How to Setup a Mail Access Connection for Gmail

Enable IMAP for your Gmail account

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account
  2. Click on Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  3. Under Download IMAP, select the option « Enable IMAP for all messages (including the ones already downloaded) ».
  4. Click Save Changes.

Otherwise:

  • Open the message from the Google Accounts Team with the subject Suspicious sign in prevented. The message says that someone tried to connect to your Google account recently using an application.
  • Follow the instructions to authorize excendia to send and receive emails in your Gmail account.

Enter your Gmail Mail Access Credentials

Enter the mail server name and access credentials that you use to access your Gmail mailbox. You should access your Gmail account to test the mail access information.
  • User Name: This is your username to login to your Gmail account from the Web.
  • Password: This is your password to login to your Gmail account from the Web.

Keep your Contacts on the Gmail Server

The virtual assistant has a special conduit to access and import your personal contacts from the "Contacts" folder of your Gmail "Contacts" folder and its sub-folders if any. You can therefore build and update your voice directory using contacts from your Google Gmail as follows:
  • Click on Contacts to display the Contact Management page.
  • Click Import then choose how you want duplicates handled
  • Choose My Contactsare on my Mail Server (Exchange or Google)then select Google
  • Enter your password if needed, then click Import.
